The story
Way Back Home is the story of Chucho, Marco, Erika and Christian; four actors who put together a new play as they face a world that is not built for them. A world that is not for the blind.
SYNOPSIS
In the dressing room Chucho jumps and shouts repeatedly “I’m happy, very happy!”, while Erika and Marco talk about the characters of the new play. Chucho goes on stage. Erika and Marco continue their talk. When Chucho returns he says, “the audience is shitty today”.
From this day on, the actors will dedicate themselves to give life to a new play, one that is not written for them, it is not for the blind. This work will dare them to represent characters with normal eyesight, a challenge they had never faced before.
Way Back Home will contrast this play with the reality of the actors and the difficulties they face in order to do what they love the most. We will reflect on identity, memory and the stigmatization of blindness, exposing certain questions. What images travel through their memory? Do they remember what their faces look like? What would they like to see if they could do it just for once?
The four actors are in the dressing room jumping without control. They end up shouting “shit!”. Chucho comes out of the dressing room and goes up on stage. The curtain slowly opens.
